Did you know that 18% of households in Texas are at risk of hunger? In Collin, Denton, and Dallas counties alone that equals 244,870 children experiencing food insecurity. Lovepacs is working hard to bridge that gap. With over 1.5 million meals served, Lovepacs works with schools to identify children in need and provides multiple food services.

The charity serves children on the Free and Reduced Lunch Programs in Little Elm’s public schools. Extended school breaks when kids don’t have access to school meals is a time of great food stress. Lovepacs works with school counselors to make sure the kids aren’t going hungry. The organization also provide the counselors with stocked snack closets and hygiene products, to be distributed to kids when they see the need.

In short, Lovepacs is making sure Little Elm’s children in need are getting the nutrition they need to grow up healthy, strong, and able to focus on school instead of their rumbling tummies. Sunny Street Café could not be more proud to be working with such an amazing organization.

For our newest restaurant in Little Elm, we will be collecting canned goods and monetary donations for Lovepacs during our first month open. When you come in for breakfast bring some canned goods or add a couple of dollars onto your bill for charity! Just $15 can provide a child with food over a long holiday weekend.

Lovepacs is especially looking for the following items:

  • Canned vegetables
  • Canned fruit
  • Canned soup
  • Canned tuna or chicken
  • Easy Mac (single serving)
    Ramen (single serving)
  • Applesauce
  • Cereal
  • Peanut putter
  • Instant oatmeal

Come on in and help us support this incredible charity!

Breakfast for dinner- what more could you ask for? Wearing your PJs to dinner, of course. That is the true definition of “comfort food.”

On October 26th, 2017, you’ll get your chance to live your dream of wearing your PJs to a restaurant and having that be par for the course. “PJs and Eggs,” a fundraiser put on by the Ohio Poultry Association, has raised more than $4,800 and collected over 4,000 pairs of pajamas for Nationwide Children’s Hospital since 2012.

So, put on your flannel PJs, your favorite onesie, long johns, or Hello Kitty print jammies and come to a participating Sunny Street Cafe October 26th from 5 pm to close to donate to a good cause and enjoy brinner (breakfast for dinner).
Bring a pair of pajamas to donate (sizes newborn-12 years) and get one free dozen of Ohio eggs! Nationwide Children’s Hospital will give out the pajamas to children under their care.

If you can’t make it to the event, participating restaurants will have boxes for pajama donations the week before. See the list below for the participating Sunny Street Cafe restaurants, so you don’t miss out!
